I'm using 2x CDJ-400's, DJM-600 & a Native Instruments Audio 2 Sound Card. I also have fully mapped an X1 Mk2 to be the perfect little effects unit for Rekordbox DJ.
Traktor is so stable and solid and its track bpm analysis is far more accurate and better than rekordbox's track anaylsis and BPM. I consistently have rekordbox analyzing tracks with the wrong bpm, or the grids are just off. The only thing i like better with rekordbox is the UI/Colors. It's better to look at aesthetically. What is the difference between Algoriddim Djay and Pioneer Rekordbox? Find out which is better and their overall performance in the DJ software ranking. Oct 09, 2018 Rekordbox DJ is the DJ software part of a bigger program called Rekordbox, which is DJ library software – think iTunes for DJs. Even if you want to DJ on Pioneer pro DJ gear without your laptop, you’ll probably end up using Rekordbox to prepare your music before exporting it onto USB sticks in order to do that.
There have been substantial updates to Native Instruments’ Traktor Pro 3 DJ software in the past few months, and as Pioneer DJ’s Rekordbox DJ software continues to mature and grow in popularity, now seems like the perfect time to put these two DJ platforms head to head to see how they stack up against each other.
I’m new to digital – what exactly are these apps?
Izotope rx elements download. Traktor is Native Instruments’ laptop DJ software, and Traktor Pro 3 is the current version. It’s one of the first digital DJ apps, launching back in 2000. It’s gone through several iterations since then, most of which were in step with DJ controllers that Native Instruments put out including the Traktor Kontrol S4, the jogwheel-less Traktor Kontrol S8 and the new Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 with Haptic Drive kinetic jogwheels.
Rekordbox is Pioneer DJ’s laptop DJ app. It started life as a music management software for exporting playlists to thumb drives for use with CDJ media players, but has grown to become a full-on digital DJing app thanks to the Rekordbox DJ add-on. Though other DJ apps like Traktor, Virtual DJ and Serato have had a big head start, Rekordbox is quickly catching up in terms of functionality and stability, and is a popular choice thanks to its compatibility with Pioneer DJ’s controllers, media players and all-in-one systems.

Please read a few of the recent posts on the subject of new or upgrade controllers.
It’s a pity that somebody has planted the thought in your mind that there is such a thing as the “Real McCoy” and even more so that it would be the latest entry, Pioneer’s RekordBox DJ (which I assume you mean as RB itself is just glorified track management and not DJ software).
There is NO BEST DJ Software. It is that simple. There is only the best DJ software for YOU!
And that is based on your current and/or desired workflow. So if Traktor is the software that most closely matches your workflow and you have the controller that fits your workflow, software and budget, then you are all set. Even a move to the S8 is something I’d only undertake if my workflow included very heavy Stems use for example and my workflow could do without jogwheels (both negative for me personally).
Switching software WILL have you redoing beat grids, cue points and other Traktor specific things you might have done.
Unless you have a very good reason to move (other than the totally misguided “RB DJ is the real McCoy” notion), I’d stick with what you’ve got. With Traktor really only shining with NI gear attached, there isn’t too much room to upgrade other than the S5/S8 route, where you have to real check your workflow to even consider the S5 an upgrade to your S4.
Vintage has the right of it, there is no “best”, just what’s best for you.
The “real McCoy” is whatever you use successfully, Pioneer has no more right to this title than anyone else. If Traktor is working for you, and you know it, then stick to it. When it stops working then by all means consider a move to another platform, but until then if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it mate.
My real McCoy is TSP 2.6.8 and my Denon kit, other people would’nt get on with this setup but I do.
